After a much-anticipated 2-week bareboat charter in the Sea of Cortez out of La Paz (preceded by 4 days in CDMX) was canceled twice by the operator, we pivoted to a food and culture tour of Mexico in March of 2025. We extended our stay in CDMX by three days and then spent a week each in Merida (capitol of Yucatan) and Oaxaca de Juarez (capitol of Oaxaca state).
Due to the limited time left - after the second last-minute cancellation of the boat charter - to make new arrangements whose dates fit within our original plans, we engaged a culinary and culture tour expert, Isabel of Mexican Culinary Traditions, to curate a trip plan and book everything (cooking classes, excursions to archeological sites, city tours, restaurants, hotels, guides and private drivers) for us. We couldn't have been happier with her service, attention to detail and follow-up throughout the trip.
